PROBLEMS FACED BY PATIENTS WHEN THEY GO HOME FROM THE REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

1. In the environment and home
Poor housing and road access
No ramps, only steps leading to the house.
Toilets are not usually commodes, but mostly squatting pans and thus unsuitable for wheel chair users
Lack of pipe borne water and electricity
Houses are on hills, especially in the Central Province. Houses are not adapted for wheel chair users.
Some houses have narrow doorways.









2. Lack of appliances and needed items due to poor economic state
Wheel chairs
Toilet chairs
Walking aids
Catheters, urine bags
Water mattresses
Medication









3. Poor transport facilities
For follow up in hospital
For visiting friends and relatives
Thus they become isolated





4. Communication lack
Mainly the very poor in very remote areas





5. Inability to continue vocation for which they were trained
Lack of raw materials
Lack of basic equipments
Poor marketing facilities
